Wimbledon Park is a modest and unpretentious London park,
very family and sports oriented, with a characteristic old-time charm.

In a Glimpse
You'll see mostly young people, families and people working out.
Few dog-walkers. The chalet-like café and fun facilities,
like the crazy golf and beach volley courts,
give the park a feelgood/familiar/casual 80s feel to it.
Unlike the über posh and perfectly mowed golf courts across the lake...
Tennis, Golf or Sailing?
Wimbledon Park is great for a fun day out.
Athletic types will be spoiled for choice:
there are tennis courts, a very big lawn for all kind of sports
(or camping & queuing during the Wimbledon tournament),
a lake with a water sports center, an athletics track, a bowling green
and plenty of shadowy spots to lay a blanket and have a picnic.
And the kids?
There is playground with a big sandpit and old school
metallic play equipment which, to be honest, has seen better days.
This doesn't matter though, as there is a great (and free) paddling pool
to keep the little monsters happy and refreshed on a hot summer day!
Wimbledon Park's Paddling Pool is open from June 1 to August 31, from 10am to 5pm.
You can get there with the District Line, station "Wimbledon Park".

We lived "up the road" from here for many years and I had no idea that was even there! Sounds great! :)
