When the sun decides to shine,
after an eternity of rain, snow and cold,
life in the UK suddenly changes...
In is out, out is in.
Boating, bathing, sunbathing, picnicking:
in summery London
everything happens in the park.
everything happens in the park.
Flowers bloom, gardens become glorious
and the air is filled with the roses' smell.
Strawberries, cucumber, fresh mint and limes
conspire to make the most delicious
summer drink ever: Pimm's.
Wellies retire.
You can walk barefoot;
mud's not here anymore.
Summer picnics.
The best restaurant is the one
with seats made of grass,
a roof with a view
and a menu under ₤10.

An afternoon stroll hides surprises;
you find Venice on Thames...
...and a Greek village square
in Richmond...
Nice to meet you, Great British Summer.

So beautiful! An English summer is not an English summer without Pimms is it?
ReplyDeleteUntil recently, I didn't even know that drink existed. I guess it's part of English summer, along with barbecues!
DeleteLovely photos! It is really great to see everything changes in the summer, how it's all flowers and green and gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Orli! I think it's a reward for enduring all that rain and cold :)
