London boasts an abundance of green spaces and parks. Holland Park is, by far, my favorite one. It's the most beautiful and peaceful park I've ever seen in a metropolis. Once you pass its gates, you enter a secret island of serenity and find yourself surrounded by the most exquisite plants, flowers and wildlife. It's a glorification of nature.
The most interesting thing about Holland Park is its combination of styles. It has everything: a semi-wild woodland with squirrels, English meadows with wild flowers, an exquisite Japanese garden with enormous goldfishes, french style "formal" gardens with sculptures and a giant chess. For kids, Holland Park's biggest attraction is the peacocks, which wander freely and won't hesitate to approach you if you are holding something eatable (ask the Baby about the peacock-banana incident, he is not ready to forget it).
In the southern section of the park you will find a very sandy playground -perfect on a sunny day, not so perfect if it rains- with picnic tables, a café and toilet facilities. Now Spring has finally graced us with its presence, if you want to see it in all its bloom, arrange a walk in Holland Park. You won't regret it.
